LARGO — Pinellas County’s top seniors put on a scoring show for a packed gymnasium at Largo High as the North All-Stars edged their South counterparts Friday night 112-105.
What the game lacked in defense, it made up for in offense, with both teams combining for 34 3-point shots.
The North held a 46-39 advantage at halftime. In the second half, both squads exploded for 66 points apiece as the best players in the county went up and downcourt with barely a break.
Though his South team came out on the losing end, Boca Ciega’s Dallas Moore was among the game’s highlights. He led all scorers with 39 points, 27 of those from beyond the arc.
For the North, Darnell Lovett of Countryside led with 26 points, including four 3-pointers. Other players to reach double figures included Juwan Brown (Largo), JT Aguilar (Tarpon Springs), Noah Weller (Seminole), Alan Kolundzic (Dunedin) and Jarron King (Seminole).
Players reaching double figures for the South included Jared Gregory (Lakewood), Darrel Fuller (Gibbs), and DJ White (Boca Ciega).
During the halftime activities, White won the dunk contest. St. Petersburg’s Demontrae Adams came out on top in the 3-point shooting contest.
“It’s a good time,” said Seminole coach Josh Walker, who coached the North seniors. “It’s about the kids and letting the seniors play one last game.”
Boca Ciega’s Randy Shuman coached the South.
