Springstead LB Luke McLeod has orally committed to Harding University, Eagles assistant Dustin Kupcik announced Saturday via Twitter.
McLeod had a standout senior season to emerge as one of Tampa Bay’s top under-the-radar prospects.
He earned first-team all-Suncoast honors with 149 tackles and four sacks while averaging 32 yards per punt. The 6-foot-2, 200-pound McLeod was the leader of a hungry defense that didn’t allow a point in the first two games and gave up more than two touchdowns in only one regular season game.
He led the Eagles to the Class 6A, District 6 championship – the program’s first since 1996.
McLeod was also being recruited by Stetson, Sacred Heart and Jacksonville, among others.
Harding is an NCAA Division II school in Searcy, Ark. The Bison finished 9-2 last season.
