Baseball super seven
Records through Wednesday
1. East Lake (16-2): The Eagles played well at the Dunedin tournament, losing 1-0 to Lynn Haven Mosley in the final. The Eagles got offense from Tyler Neuhaus and solid pitching from Cameron Churchill, Brad Deppermann, Ryan Wall and Steven Plaskett.
2. Clearwater Central Catholic (18-2): Marauders had their 16-game win streak snapped by East Lake, but they have since bounced back with wins over Dunedin and Countryside.
3. Seminole (15-5): Warhawks have had some head-scratching losses, but with a game against Jesuit and districts coming up they have time to get their act together.
4. Calvary Christian (14-4): The clear No. 2 team behind CCC in Class 3A-9. The Warriors have big games against Indian Rocks Christian and CCC looming.
5. St. Petersburg (9-7): The Green Devils won Seminole’s Georgiadis Tournament and have won four straight. They are getting it done with young pitching and offense from players like Richie Rivera, Ian Smith and Jake Ferguson.
6. Dunedin (12-6): The bats are starting to wake up at the right time. Falcons were a respectable 2-2 at their spring tournament and should win the Class 5A-12 district.
7. Countryside (12-7): The Cougars have dropped two straight and need to bounce back against Tarpon Springs on Friday.
