The Florida High School Athletic Association named 24 student-athletes to its 2013 academic all-state team, and four Tampa Bay athletes made the cut.
Shorecrest’s Jeremy Reiskind was a four-year player on the soccer team and also earned letters in football, track and field and bowling. He has a 3.98 grade point average and will attend Princeton in the fall.
Ridgewood's Mary Kujak is her school's valedictorian with a 4.0 GPA. and has played basketball, volleyball, track and tennis. She will attend Baylor.
Bloomingdale's Ian Ludden (letters in cross country, track) has a 4.0 GPA and will attend the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology.
And Berkeley Prep's Corey Salzer (volleyball, basketball, lacrosse) boasts a 4.0 GPA and will attend Washington University.
All 24 members of the team (12 boys, 12 girls) will be honored at a banquet on June 10 in Gainesville. Each member receives a $1,000 scholarship from the FHSAA. Additionally, one boy and one girl will be named the scholar athlete of the year and receive $3,000 in scholarship money.
