Hernando ace and USF signee Brandon Lawson was recently selected to compete in an international tournament this summer in Prague, his dad, Dave, said in an email.
Lawson will represent the United States in the United States Specialty Sports Association’s tournament, from June 21-30.
The 6-foot-2, 180-pound senior was the Times’ North Suncoast pitcher of the year last spring. He helped the Leopards reach the Class 5A region final by posting a 1.87 ERA with 100 strikeouts on the mound and batting in 20 runs at the plate.
This spring, Lawson has allowed only two earned runs in nine appearances. He’s posted a 6-0 record with 74 strikeouts in 42 innings and is a prospect for this summer’s MLB Draft.
