Two more players from Freedom’s Class 7A regional champion team will continue playing basketball in college, according to coach Laurie Pacholke.

Whitney Ivey, a guard, will play at Johnson & Wales University in North Miami, while backup forward Ashle Thompson has signed with Florida Tech.

A senior transfer from Plant, Ivey was the team’s third-leading scorer at 6.2 points per game. She also averaged two rebounds, two assists and two steals, becoming one of the Patriots’ most-reliable perimeter defenders.

The 5-foot-10 Thompson averaged three points and 2.5 rebounds per game.

Other college-bound players from Freedom include Times’ Suncoast Player of the Year Faith Woodard, who signed with Georgetown, and point guard Neena Pacholke, who will be a preferred walk-on at South Florida.

Pacholke said point guard Monet Williams will also announce her college choice in the coming days.
