Seminole has whittled its list of football coaching applicants to 12 finalists, nearly all of whom have ties to the bay area.
Among the finalists are three former area head coaches: Bob Gobel (Countryside), Chris Miller (Admiral Farragut) and Pat O’Brien (Sickles, King).
Other finalists include Pinellas Pak assistant coach Shawn Austin, Tarpon Springs assistant coach Mitch Disney and Largo defensive coordinator Jeremy Frioud.
Seminole assistant principal for athletics Tom Scott said the finalists were sent questionnaires that had to be filled out by Friday. The list will be narrowed to the top five or six, who will be interviewed by the committee May 17-20. A coach will be named a few days after the interviews, Scott said.
