Roughly two months after appearing together for a Tampa Bay Times photo shoot as Hillsborough County's respective male and female soccer players of the year, Shaddy Douidar and Caroline Bado were reunited again Thursday evening.

In an Apollo Beach residence, where they were formally presented the Jose and Janet Alvarez Awards, given annually to the county's top senior male and female players. Bado is the Panthers' first winner in the award's 29-year history.

Douidar, who won Florida's Mr. Soccer Award after leading the Terrapins to the Class 1A state title, is the third Tampa Prep recipient.

Both players took on new roles this year to help their teams to the postseason.

Douidar, who will attend Indiana, transitioned from a junior midfielder -- when he scored four goals while primarily setting up teammates -- to a sleek striker role that resulted in 31 goals.

Bado started her Panthers career as the team’s leading scorer, but moved around this past winter wherever Coach Pam Smith needed her, including forward, midfield and defense.

She scored three of her five goals in a 15-minute span during senior night, then asked Smith to move her back to the middle so she could help her teammates with scoring opportunities. A UCF signee, she finished her senior year with eight assists.
