Countryside defender Rachel Preble orally committed to play college soccer at Division I-A Maine Thursday morning.
On a roster made up primarily of players from Maine and Ontario, Preble will become, according to the coaches, the first Floridian to play for the Black Bears.
Preble, a rising senior, had eight goals and 11 assists last season for the Cougars. A three-year starter, she was the team MVP her sophomore season.
Preble also plays for Tampa Bay United U17 Premier, which is ranked No. 3 in the state and No. 50 in the country.
Preble chose Maine, which was 7-7-3 last year, over Vermont and Western Carolina.
