Spring game-breakers: Big plays on both sides of the ball were the difference as the Patriots rolled to a 28-0 first-quarter lead. The running game played a key role with Pinellas Park rushing for 331 yards. Donte Maxson, who is playing varsity for the first time, rushed for 152 yards on eight carries and scored on runs of 30 and 47 yards. Quarterback Angel Addison scored on a 45-yard run. …Pierre Johnson had a 20-yard touchdown run and returned a fumble 48 yards for another score. He would have had another touchdown on a 47-yard run but it was wiped out by a penalty. …The other score came on a 21-yard interception return by Jeremiah Mitchell. …The Patriots stopped Bayshore on downs twice inside the 10-yard line. Pinellas Park had a shutout until the final 35 seconds, when the Bruins scored on an 80-yard pass play.
Did you know? The Patriots have won their past two spring games by a combined score of 73-23. On Friday, Pinellas Park was so dominant a running clock was used in the fourth quarter. …The Patriots have a large graduating class that includes 10 seniors who will be playing in college. Still, Pinellas Park has found reinforcements thanks to a JV squad that was undefeated last year and outscored opponents 251-35.
