Pasco TE/DE R.J. Scaife has his first Division-I college offers.

Middle Tennessee State became the first program in the Football Bowl Subdivision to offer him a scholarship, he announced Wednesday morning on Twitter. A few hours later, Scaife added an offer from FIU.

He also holds an offer from Bethune-Cookman.

Scaife, a 6-foot-6, 255-pound senior, is one of Tampa Bay’s most intriguing prospects. He played tackle last fall, but his speed (he runs the 40-yard dash in 4.7 seconds) led the Pirates to switch him to tight end this spring. He caught a pass last week in Pasco’s spring game at Land O’Lakes.

“He played tackle, so he can block,” coach Tom McHugh said this spring. “He’s pretty athletic, and he can catch.”

USF, Louisville and Appalachian State have also expressed interest in Scaife.

Scaife is the third Pasco player to receive a D-I offer this spring, after ATH Malik Johns and star WR Nate Craig.
