Countryside defensive back Mike Johnson is planning a blitz of college campuses this summer, visiting seven schools within the next two months.
Johnson, a senior, said he plans to take trips to Texas Tech and Rutgers this month. He wants to visit Florida, FSU, Miami, UCF and Vanderbilt in July.
“It’s going to be busy, but also exciting,” Johnson said.
This past season, Johnson battled through injuries and had 16 tackles and two interceptions. That was enough to get the attention of colleges.
Johnson, rated a three-star recruit by 247Sports, currently has 20 offers, including three state schools: FSU, UCF and USF. But he has yet to get one from Florida or Miami.
“That’s part of the reason for taking these trips, to see if I get an offer from one of those schools,” Johnson said of Florida and Miami. “But if I don’t, I might start narrowing down my schools to a top 10 late in the summer.”
