After a disappointing spring game loss to Gibbs, Northeast’s 7-on-7 team is showing some promise.
The Vikings hosted and won an NFL High School Player Development sub-regional tournament at home last week. They then won the NFL HSPD regional tournament in Orlando on Wednesday. They lost their first game of the tournament but won six straight to take the championship.
With the win, Northeast advances to the NFL HSPD national tournament in Cleveland on July 11-14. It will be one of 32 teams at the tournament. Each team represents an NFL team. Northeast will represent the Buccaneers.
Northeast coach Mike Jalazo said the trip is being paid for by the NFL.
