Clearwater High is planning major renovations to Jack White Stadium, complete with a new entrance, concession stand and an artificial turf field.
This week, administrators revealed illustrations of what the project will look like during a meeting with prospective athletes and parents in the school’s auditorium.
Clearwater athletic director Kathy Biddle said fundraising has already started for the project, and the school is trying to find ways to create more revenue. Biddle said bricks will be sold to donors with their name on them. A 5K run also is planned.
Construction started in the spring to fix a sewage problem underneath the bleachers, which forced the concession stand to close.
The first phase in the project will include the turf field, which would be the first one at a public school in Pinellas County.
“We will not have the funds to install the new field this summer,” Biddle said. “We would like to see if we can get done by next season.”
The entire project could take five to seven years to complete.
