Clearwater guard Eric Hester has transferred to Oldsmar Christian, Tornadoes coach Tom Shaneyfelt said.
“This was something that was in the works before I was hired,” Shaneyfelt said. “I know that Eric is no longer enrolled here. There’s nothing I can do about that. I can just coach the players that are here.”
Hester, a sophomore, is the third bay area player to transfer to Oldsmar Christian in the past month. Two weeks ago, Carrollwood Day’s 6-foot-8 post player Adonis Welch decided to become an Eagle. Six days later, Tampa Catholic point guard Isiah Thomas, a three-year starter and 1,100-point career scorer, transferred to Oldsmar Christian.
Hester averaged 5.3 points and 1.5 rebounds per game. He played with Oldsmar Christian at USF’s team camp this past weekend.
