Former Armwood High standout Adam Sollazzo, who later led East Tennessee State to a pair of NCAA Tournament appearances, has signed a pro deal with a club in Ravenna, Italy.
According to a release from the club, Basket Ravenna Piero Manetti, he becomes the first foreign player in the city's history.
A 6-foot-6 guard, Sollazzo led ETSU to conference titles his first two seasons at the school, and led the Buccaneers in scoring (14.9 ppg) and assists (4.4) as a senior in 2012. A business marketing major with a 3.72 GPA, he culminated his career by being named men's national scholar-athlete of the year by the D1-AAA Athletic Directors Association.
“I am proud and happy to be the first president to ink a foreign player in the history of this city," team owner Roberto Vianello said in the release. "I’m faithful that Sollazzo could write important pages of our sporting course and that will help us achieve the goal we have set for the next season."
