Sunlake athletic director Russ Schenk has accepted the same position at Gulf, the Buccaneers announced Friday morning.
Schenk joined Sunlake as AD in 2009 after previous stops at River Ridge, Hudson and Anclote. The standout wrestling coach was honored earlier this year by the state’s chapter of the National Wrestling Hall of Fame.
This summer, the Florida High School Athletic Association named Sunlake as its sportsmanship award winner in Class 6A.
Schenk replaces Travis DeWalt, who stepped down as Gulf’s wrestling coach and AD to become an assistant principal at the school.
