Lakewood receiver Andrew Davis committed to Toledo on Saturday, Spartans coach Cory Moore said.
“(Andrew) had a lot of schools that were looking at him, but he felt comfortable about making that decision now,” Moore said. “He liked Toledo because he already knows some of the guys up there.”
Davis, a 6-foot-2, 180 pound senior, had offers from four others schools: Ball State, FIU, Iowa State and Middle Tennessee. He got playing time last season but did not post big numbers because of the Spartans depth at receiver. That should change this season, and Davis will be counted on as a threat in the red zone.
The Rockets have had success landing receivers from Lakewood. Bernard Reedy, a former Spartan star, had more than 1,000 yards receiving for Toledo last year and is one of the top players in the nation. Rodney Adams, who graduated from Lakewood in June, is a freshman with the Rockets
