Wiregrass Ranch alum John Gant put on a dazzling performance Wednesday night in the New York-Penn League.
He threw a nearly flawless complete game for the Brooklyn Cyclones, allowing only one hit and one walk in a 1-0 win over the Tri-City ValleyCats. Gant needed only 91 pitches and faced the minimum of 27 batters in the fourth complete game in the team’s history.
Gant, a 6-foot-4 right-hander, was drafted by the Mets in the 21st round in 2011. In 12 starts this season, he’s 6-3 with a 2.33 ERA – seventh best in the league. Gant has struck out 79 batters in 69.2 innings.
