LUTZ — Plant City’s defense allowed only 10 yards of total offense during the Raiders’ 25-10 win at Steinbrenner on Friday night.

With starting quarterback Curtis Fitch and starting running back Jake Carroll out  for the Warriors because of injuries, the already-strong Raider defense became  suffocating. Steinbrenner’s run-based  offense gained all 10  yards on 32 carries, and the Raiders forced eight punts and one turnover.

Plant City  quarterback Landon Galloway engineered a sound performance, 15-of-29 for 187 yards and a touchdown, while running for 82 yards and two more scores.

“I just dropped back and saw what they gave me,” said Galloway. “They were playing cover four so if it wasn’t open deep I was cutting underneath.”

Wide receiver Tavares Chase had six catches for 78 yards, and  sophomore  Sterling Day ran for 76 yards and a score on 22 carries.
Steinbrenner was able to hang around by forcing three turnovers  (two fumbles, one interception) and  Kezio Snelling’s 83-yard punt return for a touchdown. Plant City helped out  with 15 penalties for  140 yards.

“They’re going to pay for every single (penalty) yard, trust me,” said  coach Wayne Ward.
