As expected, Shorecrest’s girls were dominant at the Indian Rocks Invitational on Thursday, scoring 30 points, 48 ahead of Boca Ciega.
The Chargers had six runners place in the top 20, including three of the top four. Alex Eaton led Shorecrest’s strong contingent, trudging through a muddy Taylor Park course to win in 19:40. Teammates Olivia Rovin (third in 20:25) and Sophia Vesely (fourth in 20:49) were not far behind.
Cambridge Christian’s Brooke Santiesteban broke up the Chargers’ lead pack by finishing second in 20:24. Indian Rocks Christian’s Bobbi LaBrant was fifth (20:59).
In the boys race, Shorecrest also did well, placing five of its runners in the top 20 to win with 55 points.
The Chargers’ Luke Peterson was second (17:34), followed by teammate Ross Porter in third (17:44).
Indian Rocks Christian’s Trevor Quandt won the race in 16:43 to help his team finish second overall with 95 points. Seffner Christian’s Noah Perkins took fourth (17:57) and St. Petersburg Catholic’s Pat Artise was fifth (18:07).
