Nature Coast DE Rohan Blackwood has orally committed to Wisconsin, Blackwood said Sunday night in a text message. He made his commitment after taking an official visit to Madison over the weekend.
Blackwood is one of Tampa Bay’s top recruits for the class of 2014. The 6-foot-5, 215-pound Blackwood entered the season at No. 9 on the Times’ HomeTeam 100. Rivals evaluates him as a three-star recruit and the country’s No. 26 weakside defensive end; 247Sports considers him a three-star prospect and 30th nationally at his position.
Blackwood holds offers from Nebraska, USF, West Virginia and others. He visited Nebraska last week.
Blackwood earned all-North Suncoast honors in basketball and football last year. He recorded 15 sacks and 69 tackles as a junior, and he averaged 15.4 points and 11.0 rebounds for the Sharks’ basketball team.
He has not played in the regular season this year after being handed a three-week suspension following his controversial ejection from the kickoff classic.
