LAND O’LAKES — Land O’Lakes junior quarterback James Pensyl continued his early-season dominance Thursday, throwing four touchdowns as the Gators rolled past Ridgewood 33-6.

Pensyl, who finished 18-of-24 with 270 yards, said everything has clicked for Land O’Lakes (3-0), which is off to its best start in four years.

“We’re really coming together as a family and I’ve got to credit the (offensive) line, which is getting a lot better,” Pensyl said. “I didn’t feel pressure pretty much at all tonight.”

The Gators used their fast-paced offense to score four times against the Rams (0-3) in the first half.

Junior running back Larenz Scroggins started the night off with a bang, taking a handoff 20 yards for a touchdown just three minutes into the game. Then, Pensyl found Javin Tandy from 20 yards out and Andrew Hendrix from 6 yards in the second quarter, before delivering a 29-yard strike to Liam Heaney to give Land O’Lakes a 21-point lead at the half.

“I think we did good things on both sides of the ball,” Gators coach Brian Wachtel said. “But on offense, the guys were clicking in the first half. No doubt about it.”

Only the rain could slow Land O’Lakes in the second half, but Pensyl managed to put up one more score — a 31-yard pass to Stefan Zapata in the fourth quarter — to seal it.

“It’s just great,” Pensyl said. “Our whole team as a whole, we’re executing.”

Glass Wilson (24 carries, 93 yards) scored Ridgewood’s lone touchdown, a 3-yard run, in the second quarter.
