LAND O’LAKES — The Hudson duo of Noah Siegrist and Zach Russell proved much for Weeki Wachee in a 35-22 Cobras victory Friday.
Siegrist opened the scoring in the first quarter with the first of his two touchdown runs, this one from 5 yards out.
Weeki Wachee (1-2) tied the game on its next possession when quarterback David Tinch found the end zone from a yard out.
But the Cobras’ ground attack was just too much for the Hornets.
Siegrist finished with 30 carries times for 235 yards with two scores. The Cobras (2-1) accumulated 349 yards on the ground on 46 rushes.
Joey Caruso tacked on an 8-yard touchdown pass to Zach Russell with 48 seconds left in the first half.
Russell had quiet a game as he finished with 77 yards receiving, but came up huge on defense as he secured two interceptions for the Cobras.
The play of the night was Russell’s interception with 3:16 left in the game with his team up by six. His pick led to a Hudson touchdown to secure the win with 29 seconds remaining.
