Tarpon Springs running back Michael Ford, one of the state’s leading rushers, will miss at least the next two games with a shoulder injury, Spongers coach Ron Hawn said.
Ford injured his shoulder in the second half of last week’s loss to Tampa Catholic. He had his shoulder examined by doctors on Wednesday.
His absence comes at the start of district play. Tarpon Springs (2-1) plays Dunedin (1-2) on Friday, followed by a non-district game against rival East Lake (3-0) next week.
Ford has 417 yards rushing and six touchdowns in his first three games this season.
