In Plant's hard-fought 50-40 victory Bloomingdale Friday, the Bulls weren't the only thing to fall.
A few records did also.
After compiling stats off the game film Saturday morning, Plant coach Robert Weiner says that quarterback Colby Brown, wide receiver Jordan Reed and running back Alex Jackson re-wrote a few pages of the Panther record book.
Brown, a senior, finished 33-of-43 for 519 yards with four touchdown passes. The 33 completions are believed to be a school record, as are the 519 yards passing, the first time a Panther signal caller has broken the 500-yard mark.
Brown had thrown for 355 yards his previous three games combined.
Brown's passing records are more impressive when you consider the quarterbacks who preceded him at Plant -- Robert Marve, Aaron Murray and Phillip Ely. Marve and Murray were two of the most prolific passers in Florida state history, and Murray is poised to set the all-time Southeastern Conference touchdown record this season at Georgia.
Murray threw for 409 and 403 yards, respectively, in back-to-back games against Jefferson and Robinson back in 2007, and those totals were the highest for a Panther quarterback that we could find.
Reed caught 14 of Brown's passes, breaking Plant's single-game receptions record of 13 set by Derek Winter in the state championship game victory in 2006, and his 240 yards receiving also broke Winter's mark of 209, set against Jefferson.
You can call that a breakout game for Reed, a 5-10, 150-pound junior. His previous bests were five catches (against Sandy Creek) and 56 yards (against Brandon last year).
Jackson did a lot of everything against the Bulls, rushing for 145 yards, catching 107 yards of passes and picking up 74 yards on a kick return score. His 326 total yards broke Winters' previous record of 260. Jackson also added 22 points: three touchdowns, two two-point conversions.
