East Lake d. Countryside 25-13, 25-21, 25-16: Despite having so many newcomers, the Eagles are experienced thanks to years of playing together on the club circuit.
The Cougars, meanwhile, have just one player who has played club volleyball. The disparity showed Tuesday night as East Lake jumped out to a commanding lead in the first game and stayed in control throughout.
“It wasn’t that East Lake did anything special,” Countryside coach Kaylyn Bayly said. “We just made too many mistakes to win. That’s going to happen. We have two freshmen out there and hardly anyone who has ever played club volleyball.”
In the second game, the Cougars (10-3) rebounded and took the lead but ended up relinquishing it down the stretch. Sydney Burkett had 11 kills and 11 digs for Countryside.

Tristan Sanders, a Michigan commitment who set two individual and one relay record at last week’s conference meet, led PHU’s boys Tuesday night with victories in the 200 freestyle (1:43.67) and 100 butterfly (53.48).
On the girls side, the Hurricanes’ Kendall McIntosh took first in the 200 free (2:00.96) and was part of the winning 200 medley relay (1:56.64) and 200 free relay (1:44.57).
