Three North Suncoast volleyball players have been honored as District 10 players of the year by the Florida Athletic Coaches Association.
Nature Coast senior Courtney Skinner earned the award and an all-state nomination in Class 5A. She led the Sharks with 258 kills, 31 aces and 290 digs.
Land O’Lakes senior Cara Walden took the honors in 6A. She tallied 16 aces and 359 digs for the Gators this fall.
Wiregrass Ranch senior Yarah Lugo was the district’s player of the year in 7A. She finished the season with 98 kills, 17 blocks and 35 digs. Bulls teammate Grace Olsen also picked up an all-state nomination from the district.
Ridgewood’s Amber Starkey (5A), Mitchell’s Keith Paulk (6A) and Wiregrass’s Mindy Kantor (7A) were named the district’s coaches of the year.
