Basketball super 7
Records through Wednesday

Girls
1. Palm Harbor University (10-0):
The Hurricanes had a big win last week over Calvary Christian. This week, the test is tonight at St. Petersburg. Megan Ingram, Chardonay Aldrich and Amber Jennings all average double figures in scoring.
2. St. Petersburg (10-0): The Green Devils have depth, making them a serious state contender. Lazasha Baskins is the leading scorer (12.3 ppg), but Jordan Berenbaum, Angel Brown, Simone Wilson, Victoria Uhatafe and Michael LaShon Everhart can all score.
3. Calvary Christian (5-1): The Crusaders can play with anyone, especially the teams in their district. Savannah Plentovich averages 20 points per game, but twin Carley, Kasey Howard and Saje Schlatterer are all dangerous offensively.
4. Clearwater (11-0): The Tornadoes are off to a fast start under new coach Paul Lang. Alex Alford has been big so far for Clearwater, but players like Deja Blunt, Madison Rubino, Alex Hannah and Adriana Harvey have also played well.
5. Gibbs (7-3): The Gladiators are always in games with Bria Bostick on the court. She scored 33 against Northeast on Wednesday night. Gibbs will be a pest for opponents all season.
6. Countryside (7-3): Andrea Petrovic, Kellie Gaston and Kristin Gaston have carried the scoring load for the Cougars. Losses were twice to Clearwater and to PHU, two quality teams.
7. Northeast (10-4): While not quite at the level of the elite teams, the Vikings have made strides this year. Maddie Winningham, Madison Schmidt, Emina Podzic and Kaycee Folwell have been big contributors.
Knocking on the door: Admiral Farragut (6-3), Dixie Hollins (4-3)

Boys
1. Gibbs (6-1):
Survived a tough early-season schedule with an overtime win against The Rock and a one-point loss to state-ranked Daytona Beach Father Lopez. Things do not get much easier for the Gladiators with home games against district rival Lakewood tonight and against Oldsmar Christian on Tuesday.
2. St. Petersburg (4-0): Aside from escaping with a four-point win against Seminole in the season opener, the Green Devils have not been tested, winning each of their past three by more than 20 points. The bigger tests come in the next two weeks with a game against state-ranked Tallahassee Rickards on Dec. 21, as well as the Northeast Holiday tournament Dec. 26-28.
3. Largo (4-0): The Packers’ two biggest playmakers, guards Jonathan Crawford and Donavan Hale, were hobbled by ankle injuries this past week and did not play in a win against Dixie Hollins. Hale returned against district rival Osceola. It is uncertain when Crawford will be back.
4. Seminole (5-1): Since losing their season opener to St. Petersburg, the Warhawks have won five straight, including victories against district foes Pinellas Park and East Lake. Marco Behori, a junior, is the leader on a young team and averaging nearly 20 points per game.
5. Lakewood (3-4): The record is somewhat misleading considering the losses have come against quality opponents such as Berkeley Prep and Montverde. Lakewood also had to go through the first part of its schedule without point guard Joc Ellison, who was still playing football. Ellison is back for tonight’s big game against Gibbs.
6. Shorecrest (6-0): The Chargers have been bolstered by the addition of East Lake transfer Brady Grimm, who scored 34 in a win against Class 5A defending state champion Jesuit and a school-record 39 in a win against Academy at the Lakes.
7. Calvary Christian (8-0): The Warriors, led by a stellar freshman class that includes four starters, are off to their best record in school history and in position for a playoff berth.
Knocking on the door: Tarpon Springs (8-1)
