Jefferson's Deiondre Porter led the entire state in total yards and touchowns this year, and Sickles' Ray Ray McCloud III finished among the top rushers according to stats compiled by Petey Thomson as he puts together the all-state football team.
Middleton wide receiver Shug Rhynes and Carrollwood Day's Michael Smith were among the 11 state players that topped 1,000 yards receiving.
Porter, a senior, finished with 4,698 total yards from scrimmage, topping Jacksonville Bishop Kenny quarterback John Wolford by 479 yards. He accounted for 53 touchdowns, one more than Wollford.
Porter had 3,199 passing yards (with 33 touchdowns) and was one of only seven quarterbacks to exceed the 3,000-yard mark. The Dragon star's total is fifth best in Florida. Daniel Parr of Dwyer plays in the state final Friday and is close to 3,000 yards, so a big game could drop Porter down one spot.
Porter also rushed for 1,499 yards. He and Wolford were the only players in the state to go over 4,000 total yards.
This is the second time in four years a Dragon quarterback led the state in total yards and touchdowns. In 2010, Quentin Williams totalled 5,140 yards (4,300 passing, 840 rushing) and 59 touchdowns for the state champion Dragons.
McCloud, the Gryphon junior, was one of eight players in Florida to rush for more than 2,000 yards, finishing second with 2,316 yards. The leader, Danikeei Hollowell of Pensacola Escambia, finished with just 39 more, for a final total of 2,355 yards. But 100 of those came in a bowl game, as Escambia did not make the playoffs.
Rhynes is seventh in the state with 1,213 yards on 38 catches, or 39.1 yards per catch.
Smith is listed at No. 15 after catching 42 balls for 1,017 yards.
