SEMINOLE — Marco Behori left the court in the third quarter with a cut above his left eye after colliding with a Tarpon Springs player Wednesday. His return was uncertain. So was Seminole's six-game win streak.
With four minutes left in the game, Behori came back wrapped in Band-Aids and bandages. He then carved his place in Seminole basketball lore by promptly scoring seven straight points to provide enough of a cushion in a 67-49 victory.
"I just wanted to … help my team," said Behori, who scored a game-high 23 points. "I knew it was going to be a tough game that was going to have a lot of runs by both teams."
Seminole (8-1) led 41-40 when Behori returned. He scored on two layups and a 3-pointer within a minute to make it 48-40.
"I can't really explain it with Marco," Warhawks coach Josh Walker said. "He's not the biggest or the fastest kid. He's just got 'it.' He's fun and exciting, and sometimes, I have to just sit back and not coach and watch him take over."
The score was tied at 26 at the half, and the Warhawks led 41-37 after three.
Seminole had two other players in double figures, Tanner Cowen (14) and Connor Frain (12). The Spongers (10-2) were led by Scottie James (18 points) and Mitchell Wilcox (14)
