Mitchell junior midfielder Danielle Gottwik has verbally committed to UConn, Mustangs coach Karl Kukec confirmed in an email Wednesday.
Gottwik chose the Huskies over Miami and USF, in part because of UConn’s dentistry program. She visited the school about a month ago, Kukec said.
Gottwik was a second-team all-North Suncoast and all-Sunshine Athletic Conference selection last winter. She scored 11 goals and recorded 12 assists during Mitchell’s 20-3-3 season and run to the region semifinals.
Verbal commitments are non-binding until recruits sign national letters of intent during their senior years.
