Records through Tuesday
Girls
1. Mitchell (18-0, 6-0): With Taylor Meek out with a possible ACL tear, even more pressure will fall on freshman Sabrina Wagner (team-best 28 goals). But coach Karl Kukec isn’t worried; Amanda Hayes could play at forward for the Mustangs, who locked up the top seed in Class 4A-8.
2. Land O’Lakes (18-1, 16-0): The Gators’ lone loss was to Mitchell on Friday, but they added a shutout win over Wiregrass Ranch. They’ve kept all opponents — including the Mustangs — to two goals or fewer en route to the No. 1 seed in 3A-8.
3. Hudson (17-4-1, 13-2-1): The Cobras rebounded from early district losses to Nature Coast and Springstead to nab the top spot in 3A-7. Dominique Cirnigliaro’s 45 goals have made Hudson one of the North Suncoast’s most dangerous offensive threats.
4. Nature Coast (14-3-2, 13-2-1): The Sharks last lost in early December — to Hudson — to wrap up the second seed in 3A-7.
5. Sunlake (13-3-3, 12-2-2): It will be interesting to see how the Seahawks, second in 3A-8 after two close losses to Land O’Lakes, fare in the postseason without leading scorer Cassidy Place (early graduation).
6. Fivay (14-4-2, 12-2-2): The Falcons defense has shut out 14 teams and kept others to two or fewer goals to finish third in 3A-7.
7. Springstead (12-4-2 10-4-2): The Eagles added an impressive 8-0 shutout against Bishop McLaughlin recently and are fourth in a talent-heavy 3A-7 district.
Boys
1. Mitchell (16-2-1, 5-0-1): The Mustangs shut out a previously undefeated Sunlake team, establishing themselves as a major North Suncoast threat. They lead the 4A-8 standings ahead of Wiregrass Ranch and Sickles.
2. Sunlake (19-1-1, 15-0): The Seahawks have powered to 16 shutouts, but they couldn’t score against Mitchell’s strong defense. But they’ve remained dominant in their 3A-8 district.
3. Wiregrass Ranch (13-1-2, 5-1): After managing a tie against Sunlake, the Bulls haven’t disappointed. Alex Cypriano’s speed at goalie (58 saves) has foiled most offenses the Bulls have faced.
4. Springstead (13-2-1, 11-1): The Eagles are ranked first in 3A-7, ahead of Citrus and Weeki Wachee, painting an optimistic picture for the postseason. Springstead has held all but three teams to one goal or scoreless.
5. Bishop McLaughlin (12-0-2, 10-0-2): The Hurricanes have taken the top spot in A-5, but their next two opponents are district foes. With the Hurricanes averaging more than five goals per game, Carrollwood Day and AATL will have to work to catch up.
6. River Ridge (9-3-2, 9-2-2): The Royal Knights are ranked second in a talented 3A-8 district. Friday’s matchup against Wiregrass Ranch will give them a chance to prove they’re one of the North Suncoast’s top contenders.
7. Land O’Lakes (9-6-1, 9-4-1): A loss to River Ridge keeps the Gators in third place in 3A-8, but Land O’Lakes has shut out five teams this season.
