A few hours after USF officially lost one local commit, it gained another.

Sickles OL Zach Hudson announced Monday night that he has switched his oral commitment from Missouri to USF. His decision came a few hours after Jefferson ATH Deiondre Porter flipped from USF to Florida.

“This recruiting process has been long but the #USF Bulls have been (by) me the whole time and im proud to say Im keeping it in the 813,” Hudson announced on Twitter. “Tonight I committed to the University of South Florida. Keepin it in the Bay. Proud to be a bull and do something big the next 4 years.”

Hudson, the grandson of legendary Hillsborough County prep coach Billy Turner is a 6-foot-5, 290-pound senior. The three-star prospect also held offers from North Carolina State and East Carolina, among others.

He helped open up holes for 2,300-yard rusher Ray Ray McCloud III while taking the Gryphons to their first district title and the Class 7A region finals. Hudson earned second-team all-county honors this fall.

Oral commitments are non-binding until recruits sign letters of intent during their senior years. National Signing Day is Feb. 5.
