Springstead track star Wilena Little has orally committed to Florida International, Eagles coach Joel Myers said Tuesday.
Little was one of Tampa Bay’s top all-around athletes last spring when she was the Times’ North Suncoast track athlete of the year as a junior.
She placed fourth at the Class 3A state meet in the long jump (18 feet, 9 inches), won a district title in the 200 meters and third fourth in the 400. Her personal-best time of 24.90 seconds in the 200 was the fastest in the North Suncoast last year. She won Hernando County titles in the 100, 200, 400 and long jump.
Oral commitments are non-binding until recruits sign letters of intent during their senior years.
