Wiregrass Ranch’s Amanda Melosky reached 1,000 career points during Thursday’s game against Anclote.
Melosky, a junior, was 11 points from the mark before the game. She added 28 against the Sharks. This is her third year starting for the Bulls.
“For a junior to break 1,000 points is just a special achievement,” coach John Gant said. “It really is.”
Added Melosky: “Scoring 1,000 points is a great milestone, but winning on top of it is icing on the cake.”
Wiregrass defeated Anclote 79-34. The Bulls’ next opponent is Land O’Lakes before they head into the 7A-8 district tournament.
“In 31 years — and I’ve coached some phenomenal athletes — Amanda Melosky is the hardest worker I’ve ever had on the basketball court,” Gant said.
