Bishop McLaughlin pitchers Tanner Koch and Colton Nussel will sign with the University of Montevallo next week, Hurricanes athletic director and baseball coach Tom LoSauro said Friday.
Koch, a senior right-hander, was one of Bishop’s top pitchers last season. He posted a 1.45 ERA and 6-4 record while striking out 50 batters in 53 innings. He also batted .250 with 11 home runs. Koch was a first-team all-North Suncoast selection last fall after helping Bishop make the playoffs.
Nussel, a senior right-hander, hit .262 and ranked second on the team with 16 runs scored. On the mound, he appeared in 12 games, recording a 2.53 ERA and striking out 47 batters in 38.2 innings.
They plan to sign with the NCAA Division II school in Alabama on Wednesday.
