Palm Harbor University needed overtime Friday night to claim the PCAC girls basketball title, 53-51 over St. Petersburg. The teams were tied at 47 after regulation. Chardonay Aldrich hit two free throws with seconds left for the difference.

Amber Jennings led the Hurricanes with 14 points. Aldrich added 12 and Megan Ingram had nine. Jordan Berenbaum led the Green Devils with 12 points. Simone Wilson had 11 and Lazasha Baskins 10.

“That was the kind of game I thought it would be,” PHU coach Darian Dublin said. “Amber played a very good game and then with about 14 second left in overtime, Char got fouled and made both free throws. That was the key.”

This was third time the teams met this season; PHU has won two. They are the top two seeds in next week’s Class 8A-8 district tournament. If the teams reach the final, they will play each other again next Friday at St. Petersburg.
