Palm Harbor University has hired Reggie Crume to take over the football program.
Crume replaces Matt LePain, who stepped down earlier this month to become the coach at Dunedin.
Crume was an outfielder and defensive back at Washington University, and coached high school and youth football in Missouri. He was among four finalists who interviewed this past week. The list was narrowed to Crume and Robinson offensive coordinator Craig Everhart, who both went through a second interview Monday morning before a decision was made.
In three seasons under LePain, the Hurricanes made the playoffs twice, reaching the region semifinals in 2011 and ’12. Those were the first two playoff appearances in school history. Last year, PHU went 5-5.
