More than a half-dozen of Rohan Blackwood’s relatives attended his noon signing ceremony Wednesday, which roughly equates to one family member for each position he played at Nature Coast.

According to Sharks coach Charles Liggett, Blackwood (6-foot-5, 225 pounds) began his prep career as a quarterback, and ultimately lined up at receiver, defensive end and outside linebacker.

He might have remained under center had he not taken a trip to Jamaica to visit family during part of the 2011 preseason, when the Sharks installed most of their offense.

“This year we put in some packages to put him in and just never got a chance to utilize it,” Liggett said.

Blackwood projects as a defensive end for the Bulls, to whom he committed in late January. A one-time Wisconsin commitment, Blackwood said he switched to the Bulls, coming off a 2-10 season, because of their coaching staff.

“Coach (Willie) Taggart, he’s a really down-to-earth man,” Blackwood said.

“I feel like he’s going to help me with my success. Plus, (2013) was the first year they were there and he had the other head coach’s recruiting class. Things weren’t in his favor with what he wanted to do because it really wasn’t his team.”
