SEMINOLE — Seminole jumped all over East Lake in the first quarter and never let up en route to a resounding 63-43 victory Friday night to claim the 7A-9 district title. The Warhawks led by 14 after the first, by 22 at the half and never led by less than 20 the rest of the way.
After both teams hit four consecutive 3-pointers to start the game, Seminole went on a 14-0 run that carried into the second quarter.
“Henry (Beard) coming off the bench really sparked our defense, he just gets after it,” Warhawks coach Josh Walker said. “It just wears teams down, it was the key to that run.”
Junior guard Marco Behori had 11 of his game-high 20 points in the first half. He also snared eight rebounds and helped push the pace.
“Marco has been great all year, he steps up in big games and he’s a big time player,” Walker said.
Teammate Connor Frain also had 20 points and eight rebounds and hit a fade-away 3-pointer from 5 feet behind the arc as the third quarter ended.
The Warhawks host the regional quarterfinals next Thursday.
