Skinny: OCP spreads around the scoring, and though lacking a true post player, has good size and no defeats against a Florida team. Two years ago, the Warriors defeated AATL 78-27 at this same stage en route to claiming a state title, something OCP has done four of the past six seasons. And USF fans will recognize the man on the OCP sideline: coach Reggie Kohn is a former Bulls point guard. The Wildcats are seeking their first state semifinal trip.
Key players: When AATL coach Tom Haslam referred to OCP as a “college” team he wasn’t far off. Six-foot-5 senior Adonys Henriquez is headed to UCF, 6-5 Jonathan Joseph to Stetson, 6-2 Brandon Maxwell to Chattanooga and 6-4 Dmitri Thompson is mulling offers. Point guard Damon Harge is one of the top freshmen in the nation. …AATL guard Malik Hall averages more than 20 points a game and was the driving force Tuesday in a 69-53 win over Bayshore Christian, hitting four of the Wildcats’ eight first-half 3-pointers. He and other outside threats like Ethan Haslam have to be on their game Friday from the perimeter.
