When we unveiled our early look at Tampa Bay’s top 25 prospects for the class of 2015, East Bay defensive end Marques Ford was one of only three recruits without an offer.
That didn’t last long.
The 6-foot-4, 220-pound defensive end has seen his recruitment soar recently. Miami became the first Florida school to offer him a scholarship last week. USF followed over the weekend.
Ford has also claimed offers from Central Michigan, Bowling Green, Rutgers and Wake Forest in the last few weeks. He amassed 10 sacks, 13 quarterback hurries and 67 tackles last fall as a junior to help the Indians have their best season in school history.
A few other recent recruiting tidbits:
LSU and UCLA are two of the latest schools to offer Armwood defensive end Byron Cowart. The five-star recruit is Rivals’ No. 3 overall prospect for 2015 and is also being recruited by, uh, pretty much every team in the country.
His teammate, linebacker Jordan Griffin, recently added offers from Utah and Cincinnati.
Sickles athlete Ray Ray McCloud III claimed offers from West Virginia and Maryland.
Nebraska is one of the most recent offers for Wharton WR Auden Tate.
