Lakewood receiver Tyrae Boykins committed to Fairmont State on Wednesday and will sign his letter of intent later this week.
Boykins was one of the team's leading receivers and helped the Spartans reach the Class 5A state semifinals.
He becomes the eighth player from the Tampa Bay area -- and seventh from Pinellas County -- to join Fairmont State, a Division II school in Fairmont, W.Va. The Falcons have around 34 players signed, including 11 from Florida.
The connection with the area comes from assistant coach Chris Harvey, who is the son-in-law of Clearwater Central Catholic coach John Davis.
