Florida International's Jerica Coley, a former standout at St. Petersburg Catholic, scored 42 points on Wednesday to move to No. 5 on the NCAA Division I scoring list in women's basketball.
On Tuesday, Coley became just the 10th women in Division I history to score 3,000 points in her career. Her 42-point total Wednesday moved her fifth on the career list, surpassing Cheryl Miller and Chamique Holdsclaw among others.
Coley now has 3,054 career points after helping the 13th-seeded Panthers beat fifth-seeded East Carolina 87-75 in the second round of the Big East tournament.
Coley, who is averaging 29 points per game, would most likely need two more games to move past Drake's Lorri Bauman (3,115) on the list.
