Seminole baseball players Michael Mann, Alex McGathey and Corey Baptist signed their letters of intent on Wednesday during the early signing period for spring sports.
Mann, who hit .405 with 24 RBIs, 11 doubles and six home runs, signed with the University of South Florida. McGathey, who was 8-0 with a 0.15 ERA and hit .359 with 10 RBIs, signed with the University of North Florida. McGathey will pitch and play shortstop at UNF. Baptist, who hit .316 with 17 RBIs for St. Petersburg Catholic as a junior, signed with the University of Mississippi.
“It’s unusual to have one Division-I signee from a school,’’ Seminole coach Jeff Pincus said. “To have three is really remarkable."
Baptist said his choices to attend Seminole and Mississippi were easy ones.
“I decided this summer that I wanted to go to Seminole,’’ he said. “I grew up playing with these guys and it’s right down the street from my house. And I’ve been waiting for this day for a while. It’s nice to get it over with.’’
