Times' super 7
Records through Wednesday
1. Clearwater Central Catholic (8-0): Marauders have a potentially light few games before playing at East Lake next week.
2. Osceola (8-1): Warriors have rattled off eight straight wins, including a big one over Northeast last week. The lineup is solid from top to bottom, which has coach Stefan Futch cautiously optimistic.
3. East Lake (8-2): Eagles knocked off Countryside behind the pitching of Brad Deppermann, then came a comeback win over Seminole.
4. Countryside (7-2): Cougars bounced back from the 1-0 East Lake loss by defeating Clearwater by 10 runs. A competitive stretch awaits: Pinellas Park, Calvary Christian, Northeast and Osceola.
5. Calvary Christian (8-2): Since losing to CCC, the Warriors haven’t given up a run in three straight wins over Indian Rocks Christian, St. Petersburg Catholic and Shorecrest. Monday’s Countryside game will be a big test.
6. Northeast (6-4): Two close losses sent the Vikings down the list this week. Northeast went 10 innings before losing to Pinellas Park on Tuesday. Josh Hale has emerged as an elite pitcher in the county.
7. St. Petersburg (6-5): Green Devils can pitch and hit just good enough to play with anybody. Tests against Berkeley Prep, Palm Harbor University and Pinellas Park await.
On the bubble: Pinellas Park (6-5), Palm Harbor U. (5-5).
