Indian Rocks Christian has a new boys basketball coach for the first time in two decades.
After longtime coach Joe Frost (20 seasons) stepped down, the Golden Eagles promoted from within, announcing the hiring of junior varsity coach Eddie Moralobo, who spent eight seasons with the program.
“Eddie brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the position,” IRC athletic director Phil Farver said. “It will be a smooth transition for the players and the school.”
During his tenure, Frost guided the Golden Eagles to three playoff appearances, including the state semifinals in the 2001-02 season.
“Coach Frost felt that he has taken the program as far as he could at this time and a change was needed for him and the program,” Farver said. “(Frost) felt that with increased administrative duties, he was not able to put into the program what he felt he needed to. He will be able to spend more time watching his son, Christian, play football and basketball and his girls, Autumn and Somer, play basketball.”
