Nine Jesuit baseball players have been suspended from the team for the rest of the 2014 season for violating school policy, said Pete Young, the school’s director of communications.

Young would not disclose the names of players nor the specific policy that was violated.

“Out of respect for our students and families, we do not comment on matters related to student discipline,” Young said in a statement.

Jesuit, which lost 2-1 to Ponte Vedra in last year’s Class 5A state semifinal, started the season with 10 Division I commits or signees on its roster. The roster is now down to 19 players.

Jesuit had a game against district opponent Robinson scheduled for Tuesday, but it was postponed to Wednesday, which will be the first time the Tigers (12-2, 3-0) have played since March 18. Last week, Jesuit completed a road trip that included games against Pensacola Catholic, New Orleans Newman and New Orleans Jesuit.
