Our weekly recap of how Hillsborough County football alumni performed on the collegiate plane begins with a former Hawk promoting the pursuit of Liberty.

* Liberty University senior Sirchauncey Holloway (Plant City, Armwood) had 128 yards and a TD on only 12 carries in the Flames' 56-7 rout of Presbyterian. It was the fourth career 100-yard effort for Holloway, who had 109 by halftime.

* Gardner-Webb sophomore J.J. "Waterbug" Hubbard (Robinson) set up two touchdowns with kick and punt returns of 63 and 50 yards, respectively, in the Runnin’ Bulldogs thrilling 30-28 win against MidAmerica Nazarene. Hubbard (pictured) finished with 177 all-purpose yards -- 121 on kick returns.

* Stanford senior Daniel Zychlinski (King) averaged 45.7 yards on six punts -- including a long of 57 -- in the Cardinal’s 20-13 overtime loss at Notre Dame. Zychlinski pinned two of his punts inside the Irish 20.

* Vanderbilt fifth-year senior LB Archibald “Don’t Call Him Archie” Barnes (Berkeley Prep) tallied a career-high 12 tackles in the Commodores’ 31-17 loss to Florida. By halftime, Barnes already had matched his season-best tackle total (eight).

* South Alabama sophomore T.J. Glover (Plant) collected 94 all-purpose yards, including 47 receiving yards on three catches, in the Jaguars’ 36-29 loss to Arkansas State.

* On a bleak note, Holy Cross junior LB Scotty O’Donoghue’s weekend ended practically before it began. O’Donoghue (Sickles) injured his knee on the opening kickoff of the Crusaders’ 51-35 loss to Colgate. He was set for an MRI today, his father said.
